Wednesday was a cool lovely day, breezes and temps in the 70’s F. The old cat had made it through the night but had slept on the floor all night, not on the couch as usual. She had actually used her pee pad so I didn’t have a pee spot hunt when I got up.
During the day she started to move around (peeing wherever, sigh…) and continued to eat. She seemed to get a little stronger, not so badly staggering. I think the immediate crisis is resolving, but one never knows with cats this old.
I finally got outside around 9:15 with the intention of weeding at least the un-mulched walkways in hopes my son would start the mulching. I started on the walkway nearest the house and worked south. I also cleaned up and deadheaded things as I went along.
Deadheading the calendula about did me in but I managed to clear the walkway on the other side of it and move the mulch that had been put down weeks ago off the peppermint. It had greatly appreciated the help over the edging, so I had to pull roots and get it back in the bed and the mulch out of the bed. I quit at 11AM when that was done.
Tom was here in the morning and he went out at lunch time and started on the truck. He got the solenoid off but couldn’t successfully test it. Then he took the steering column apart to check the ignition apparatus. That appeared to be working, but he couldn’t determine if the switch for the key was any good. Those are the 2 avenues he’s going to pursue first.
Late afternoon my son went out and got most of 2 walkways done. I’m hoping he will finish the job on Thursday.
I plan to go out and finish the last rows in the New Herb garden. The walkways, having been mulched, won’t be so bad. I might even start a flowerbed, we’ll see…
