Friday morning I got the dehydrators unloaded. The comfrey in both of them just filled the half gallon jar. That one’s done.
I’d planned to go out to pick green peas and process them while it rained, but it started pouring before I could get out there. It never stopped until mid afternoon.
My helper friend was coming and I decided to inventory freezers. They needed cleaned too, but we didn’t have time for that.
Once we had each one emptied, we scraped off as much frost as we could and scooped it out. I had a lot of old food in there. I had left it last year because I didn’t have a garden. But I have one this year. So we had a LOT of boxes to discard. Normally I would have sent it to the pigs and chickens, but alas… So compost it was.
I kept a written inventory of items names, quantities, size of package, and dates. This will help me determine my usage to guide future growing and storage.
At the barn I was able to consolidate the 2 freezers and shut one down. I brought a bunch of things to the house. At some point I need to clean the one I shut down.
On Saturday, the rain is supposed to stop and I hope to get out to the New Herb garden. I’ve not been out there since Tuesday. I also need to harvest the peas.
Monday is my husband’s birthday, so this will be a hard weekend.
