I spent Sunday resting so no photos. So I looked through my old photos for things that had come down through the families. This is the oldest one I think. It came from my paternal grandmother.
My husband and I managed to rescue some of the Christmas ornaments from his grandfather when he died.
This photo shows a garland my paternal grandmother made, and another of my husband’s grandfather’s ornaments. I’ve never seen bead ornaments like them anywhere.
These ornaments I rescued from my uncle’s house after he died. None of his kids wanted them. I don’t know how old they are, but I’d guess from the 50’s or 60’s.
I made this ornament when I was 7 or 8, so it’s 60 years old. As children, my sisters and brothers and I made the ribbon garland.
The needlepoint ornament on far left was made 32 years ago for my son.
I also made this ornament about 60 years ago.
These plastic ornaments were common when I was a child. Some were from my childhood, but most were collected to be on the bottom of the tree when my son was small. I made the foil garland almost 50 years ago.
My stocking (center) was made by my paternal grandmother 67 years ago. Each of our house animals has had a stocking.
This was my husband’s stocking when he was a child.
The “newest” of saved family things are these cards (bottom 2) my sister made around 20 years ago. I have quite a few of them.
These things are precious to me, remembrance of family now gone.
Monday I must get the laundry done, and anything else requiring electricity because the electric company is supposed to replace the main cable on Tuesday so the power will be off a good part of the day.
