On Monday morning when I went up to do chores, this is what greeted me outside the front door at 6AM. I’d not gotten to sleep until 1:15AM.
And this is what it looked like on the way to the car. Hazy, hot, humid, nasty.
My general helper was coming at 7:30 so we could be finished up in the bedroom before it really got bad. Tom’s “office” is on the right and this is how we’d set it up a month ago. All except the bed had to be moved out.
Tom’s “office”
The closet had all the slides and slide equipment in it along with a lot of misc stuff.
The other bedroom before we started
And my fairies I’d put up 20 years ago had to be taken off. They were up with common pins and they were not easy to pull out.
The old laundry before we started.
We were able to get a lot more into the laundry than I had thought we could.
We moved Tom’s “office” into the other bedroom. It’s pretty hot in there, not a lot of air flow. He will have to set it up to suit himself. And he has a fan.
A lot of the stuff from the closet went into the laundry room and some into the sewing room behind the closet.
With as little sleep as I had, I was so grateful to have my general helper to do this job. There was no way I could have done it all. She vacuumed the room while I went to sit down.
The walls badly need painting, and the carpet cleaned. But that’s not happening in this awful heat and humidity.
The room looked pretty bare and I was trying to think what I could use to furnish it. I remembered a small bureau in the closet in the other bedroom. So we excavated the catchall closet and got the bureau out and my helper got it cleaned up.
Then we went down to the cool of the office and she finished up the label stakes and took them out to the garden shed. It will be nice to not have to walk around them anymore.
I had laid down to nap on the couch when I got up to make some food because I was hungry at 1PM. Then I suddenly remember the van would be here at 1:15 to take me to a dentist appointment. Nope, he arrived at 1PM and had to wait while I showered and got ready.
My general helper had messaged that they wanted all the rest of my garlic and would come at 3PM to get it. This was before I lay down. I’d totally forgotten the appointment. But she was waiting for me when I got home and all the garlic is sold! Yay! I think that’s the first time I’ve ever sold all of it. I still have the eating quality for the year for myself.
Finally I was able to eat and lay down until it was too hot in the living room. The poor little AC in the office lost the battle by 8PM; it was 85F in there, but worse in the rest of the house. It’s going to be another very late night Monday night…
