On Friday morning, it was just as hot and humid as it had been all week. I just couldn’t face it again, so I decided to stay inside. I got the kitchen all cleaned up and ready for my helper friend to make butter at 8AM. Then I went up and started working on the dining room curtains again.
He came up some time later and said the butter was too hot to churn properly. So I went down to see what we could do. It had been in the oven to come to temperature too long on a hot day. I hadn’t taken the house temp into consideration when I put it in to warm.
He kept trying to churn it but we were getting nowhere. So we put all the mess into big bowls and started mixing ice cubes in. It set up finally. We started trying to wash it, but as soon as it left the ice cube bowls, it softened and was very hard to wash.
I took some photos but the brainfog was bad when I went to edit them and in moving them from the camera, I managed to delete over half of the weekend’s shots. Sigh…
My helper stayed ½ hour longer than he should have and I was left trying to wash the mess. I spent 3 hours at it and finally got something into the fridge about 2PM. But it will have to be warmed up a little, the rest of the water pressed out and re-chilled before I can package it.
The kitchen was a greasy mess: on the floors, the cabinets, counters, sinks, and huge pile of large bowls. I just couldn’t clean it so I left it for Saturday morning when it was cool and I had rested.
On Saturday I am going with my friend tag saling and then for a riverboat ride.
