I got started on Friday morning cleaning the dust off things in the dining room.
Every single thing throughout the house is coated in dust like this: floors, walls, ceiling, everything. It’s going to take days to clean this mess.
My helper friend was here and he worked out in the Big garden, pulling up vines and weeds, filling the woodchuck hole under the hollyhock and generally cleaning up.
The basil, parsley, lima beans, nasturtiums, marigolds and kales are still doing fine. I hope to be able to dehydrate more of these once the cleaning is done.
My helper friend harvested the Hungarian paprikas. I’ll have to get them in the dehydrator this week.
The Big rose is still flowering up a storm on October 1.
Under normal circumstances, I would not have needed to light a stove for at least another couple weeks. But the masons had doors and windows open all day on Thursday and it was pretty cold in the house. The sun didn’t get it warm enough during the day, so I lit a small fire in the masonry heater on Friday night to get us through the night.
The office was warm enough with just a space heater for a while. I may have to run it a while in the morning too. We are to have sun on Saturday, so hopefully the house will warm back up.
I’m going with a friend to a huge tag sale at the Fairgrounds on Saturday. I went to this annual event with my husband in 2019 before the pandemic. It was quite the event. I’m hoping I find some good deals on Saturday.
On the way home I hope to stop and get my pumpkins for the front porch. I only have white ones as the squirrels ate all my orange ones.
Once I’ve put away all my tag sale finds, it will be back to cleaning again.
