Ever since the arctic front moved out, I’ve heard the birds singing again in the early morning when I go to the barn to do chores. The full moon was behind the trees to the west on Tuesday morning when I pulled up the shades.
There were 6 deer up near the barn when I got there. Sometimes they are that close, but usually they are back by the sandhill.
As I sat eating breakfast the sun was shining through the house plants in the east window.
I wasted an enormous amount of time after breakfast trying to find items and ordering them online before my helper friend got here at 9:30. Sometimes it’s just a battle to do simple things when the brainfog is bad…
I sent him to the store and got a shower and got laundry started.
This pothos that lives in the center window on the west side of the office had lost lots of leaves last summer. It was to be our next victim.
I brought it out to the laundry room door for my helper to work on after we’d watered the house plants. I only was able to stand long enough to water the living room ones though.
As he was at the sink filling the watering cans, he says “There’s a guy up at the barn.” And I looked and sure enough there was a guy walking over like he’s going into the barn. Then he re-appeared carrying a stick. That was odd.
I looked in the direction he was going and saw the truck, and then the lift. Apparently my neighbor had noticed a tree starting to come down and decided to take it down. I’d had to do another that had landed on the barn last year. So I guess we are taking turns dealing with the trees.
They took off a lot of branches on my side of the tree, we could see a lot of large white patches on the trunk. But they didn’t take the tree down. Not sure what the point of that was…
My helper friend only got a few strands untangled before he had to go. I worked on it some until after lunch but didn’t finish because the plumbers showed up.
I spent the rest of the afternoon taking photos to send to The Stove Lady about the cookstove. But that’s another post.
This pothos, with an oxalis, cuttings, and a pink polka dot plant under it, survived far better last summer. I’m not sure why as it is also a west facing window and only 6’ south of the one we are working on. I won’t be doing anything to this one.
The day, as usual, didn’t go much as planned. I’d hoped to water all the house plants, work on that pothos, and sit and clean up this aloe vera plant.
If things went really well, I hoped to do this aloe vera also. Best laid plans…
On Wednesday the plumbers will be back first thing to repair the upstairs bathroom tub, Tom will be here trying to work next to them in the bedroom, and I will be trying to finish the pothos and laundry.
The weather is to be early spring-like all week and I haven’t had to burn as much wood. Wednesday is to be sunny most of the day, so it will be nice but too cold for me to work outside, as it’s only in the 40’s F during the day. It’s to remain in the 40’s and 50’s F for the next 10 days they say. Bizarre weather for February!
