Sunday I made 7½ pints of garlic scape pesto. I have a lot of large pieces left to make pickles. I’d planned to do that today, as it was to rain, but now they are saying the rain’s not coming until late morning, so my helper friend and I will be mulching the Big garden.
I spent yesterday in the Big garden weeding, getting about ⅓ of it done. All the garlic and onions are weeded. I found a cosmos, a hollyhock, and saved a dill plant in the tall weeds. So this is what we will be mulching until the mulch runs out. Hopefully my husband will bring us 2 more bales tomorrow.
He was walking up the driveway from chores yesterday morning and found a robin’s egg shell. We don’t find many egg shells each year, of any species of birds. I’d like an oriole’s. It looks like the female is sitting on eggs now, in our white oak tree.
I’ll be loading the dehydrators once it starts to rain. Rugosa roses, peppermint, and something else. I’ll have to look around….
