On Sunday morning I was up at 6AM and got the poor cat fed and my post up. Then I went out to clean up the kitchen. I had ordered incandescent Edison bulbs from a company that might not be on the up and up.
Apparently, according to the company I originally ordered them from, 60 watt incandescent bulbs are not longer legal to sell. So I ordered a box full, just in case, and felt I should test each one to make sure they all lit. How long they would stay lit would be a mystery.
I was just finishing this job when my brother got up and helped me get the dishwasher loaded. The next job was taking out the trash and recycling, something that had gotten out of hand lately.
Azalea and spiderwort
After that I rested until 10:30AM and went out to prep for mowing. It hadn’t gotten bad and I was able to finish the house and the barn in 3½ hours. It was cool and mostly cloudy the whole time.
As I walked around to get my photos, it started to sprinkle, and then stopped.
My brother had weedwacked the 2 front pastures and driveway while I was mowing. He used the new weedwacker and was quite impressed by it.
I walked down this side of the front pasture because it’s June and I wanted to see if any multiflora roses were open. I found the wild blackberry in the first photo collage right away. But I kept looking and was rewarded.
I found these pale pink multiflora rose blossoms. That means, I hope, that soon the whole farm will be filled with their lovely scent for a week or so.
Yard all mowed
I’m hoping my son will finish the weedwacking in the yard on Monday. I do the best I can with the push mower before using the rider.
I had put the glass rain gauge out on Friday before the rain started. I was astounded to find 4.5 inches in it on Sunday morning.
I was too tired to get a shower when I finished the mowing, so I sat down for a while. I saw someone on the front porch and it was the contractor. He was going to make another attempt on the electrical problem.
The clean room and the bathroom are on the same circuit and neither had been working for over a week. The contractor had found a video that explained how that odd circuit breaker worked, so we tried it. It gave us a code so he started looking for what it said.
We discovered that the clean room was suddenly working, but nothing in the bathroom. His testers said the lights should be working but they were not. So it was obviously beyond his knowledge. So I called the electrician again and he said he’d come sometime Monday morning.
We put the lamp on top of the fridge so if it went out, we’d know the fridge wasn’t getting power.
And I went back to watching Downton Abbey until Tom arrived. He’d been at a dowsing conference all weekend and had to tell me about it. When he left, I went back to Downton Abbey until bedtime.
At 7PM I again lit the wood stove and pulled the window shades. It had been in the 40’s Saturday night and would be again Sunday night. I don’t ever remember lighting the stove in June before. It’s to be low 40’s again Monday night, so it will be lit one more time.
On Monday I have the electrician, the garlic to process, the kitchen to clean up again, laundry to do, and an appointment in the afternoon. I was hoping to get to the gardens while it’s still pleasant outside, but I don’t think I’ll manage it. It’s to hit low 80’s on Tuesday, 90’s on Wednesday and Thursday, and mid 80’s on Friday. Maybe I’ll put off some of the chores and go out on Monday, as it’s to be 70’s. We’ll see…
