On Monday morning I set to work and got laundry started and chores done and about 9:30AM I got started putting the last of the lights on the tree. I finished about 1PM. The standing to do it takes a lot out of me so I have to rest every hour or so.
There are 3100 bulbs of the mini-lights and 91 bubble lights on it. That’s not the most I’ve ever done. In 2019 I had 3300 on the old tree. This is a new tree to me and the biggest one I’ve ever had.
I had to use old strings in the middle and you can tell, as they aren’t as bright. I hope to replace them when the lights are on sale this year.
I then spent the afternoon putting on the bubble lights. This takes a long time as each one has to be attached to a branch and made to stand up straight. You should make sure you don’t have similar colors in a row either vertically or horizontally.
Over the years I’ve collected many different types. Some have glitter (silver or gold) in the liquid, some have clear bases with different colored bulbs in them, and some have multi colored bases with different color fluid: red, yellow, pink, green, blue.
Each year I have to replace up to 18 bulbs over the course of the season.
The cats are loving their haybox in the sunny window. I don’t know where Lily was off to. Usually she’s snuggled up to Dennis or even under Dennis.
I used a flash for this photo and it wasn’t appreciated. I have to get the photos through the window or they won’t stay laying down and the window wasn’t washed this year or last.
The deer were out on the back 40 on Monday evening and this time they didn’t mind me taking photos from the car.
Just before supper time Tom arrived with stuff from my friend (wooden boxes and newspapers for the fire) and the extra extension cords for the lights. I watched a couple Christmas movies and went to bed early.
On Tuesday I hope to get all the candles in the windows, 47 I think. Then I’ll get the garlands on and can start putting on the decorations for the tree.
