Each year I make one of these delicious smelling pomanders.
The materials are simple. The very nicest, biggest orange you can find, whole cloves, and string or ribbon.
I select the cloves with the longest, strongest stems. One can use a toothpick to make each hole, but I’ve found the clove stems do fine.
I do a simple pattern. One can get really fancy.
Some ideas…
Mostly I just try to have a clove within ½” of each other.
I have a string I use each year. One can use a ribbon, but the oils might stain it.
All finished. It took about 20 minutes to do. I hang in away from the woodstove as it fries it out too fast. This is a south window and perhaps not the best, as the sun will dry it also, providing we have much sun….
