When I was little my family had this old rocking chair. When I was older, about 10, my youngest brother was born, and I spent hours rocking him in this chair. It remained with my mom but was one of the items I had requested for after she died.
My sister had found a replica in dollhouse scale and a teddy similar to mine a few years back and given it to me.
My brother took my car on Easter to go to Connecticut and he brought the chair back with him. As is often the case, I found the chair much smaller than I remembered. But as he reminded me, I was smaller back then too.
I am delighted to have it again and must try to find a place in the house for it.
On Monday I was up at 5AM and got the kitchen cleaned up and a shower, then started moving things for window cleaning.
I started in my bedroom then went upstairs and did the sewing room and my brother’s room. I got to sit down for 10 minutes before the window washer guy showed up at 8AM.
We started in the office and I had to show him all the quirks of these 35 year old windows. He soon settled into the rhythm and we ticked along well.
In lulls, I went back into the sewing room and eventually had it set to rights before we went downstairs to work. We had done 8 of the large windows on the 2nd floor. I still had 5 small ones to do on my own.
Sewing room restored, with screens in
We moved down to my bedroom and I had it all set up and we were taking the first window out. I caught the edge of my tub of soapy water with the sash and dumped the whole thing on the thick carpet. So I had to waste time soaking that up.
I had told him we’d stop at 11AM and get the last 3 outside windows done, as we had good weather for it. So we did that and then came back and managed to finish the 2 double hung windows and that made our goal of 13 windows for the day.
He left at noon and I slowly, over the course of the afternoon, got the mess cleaned up and things restored to rights. I set the fan up to dry the carpet out.
I also got 2 more sets of photos laid out on backboards but neither finished.
On Tuesday morning early my brother follows me down to the inspection station so I can get the car inspected. I hope to get some work done on seedlings and clean up the kitchen before I go. When I get back, I hope to do more with the seedlings before my helper friend arrives at 9:30AM.
Once he is here, the goal is to get pea fences up and peas planted in the Big garden. It’s to be a nice day, once the rain stops. In the afternoon I have PT, the last visit, and my brother will take me to get the car in late afternoon.
So another busy day.
