Saturday and Sunday were spent getting caught up on chores and paperwork. By Sunday night I was ready to start on windows first thing on Monday. I was up at 4:30AM and got the bathroom window emptied out and washed the trim.
All the crystals and little things needed to be washed before being put back so I laid them out by the island sink. The plants were put on the old island.
Then I moved into the clean room and got the fairy moved to a new safe place. She hasn’t been washed yet to be put away. There were more crystals from this window too, to be washed.
Next was the kitchen window. On the awning windows I had to pull the grilles out, so I washed them as I did that. The next window was the roundtop in the living room. I put all the plants on the dining room table. I was just finishing up the grill for that window when my window guy arrived at 8AM.
Larry is not happy about the time change as meals are late these days. Dennis is probably not happy, but she hasn’t complained.
The first thing we did was bring up the windows for the 2 storm doors. We got the screens out which meant taking all the grills off and the push bars. Then we washed the whole frame of the doors and the white trim around them.
Once the windows were in, we washed them. This time the window guy was actually washing windows as I did one side and he did the other. Once the storm doors were all back together, he got the 8’ ladder out and brought it around to the bathroom’s greenhouse window.
It was cloudy but not too cold and I was glad I’d decided to do these windows that require a person outside. It means we will be a little colder in the house until he comes back to do the remaining 13 windows. But those are all done from the inside.
We moved right along on all the windows on the south side of the house. It was around 10AM when we started all the windows on the back porch.
While he was washing outside I got the front door done and the side light, and the back porch outside door done. When he moved to the dining room window, we only did the big window as I can do the 2 little double hung myself. So I got most of the inside back porch door done as he did the outside trim on the dining room window.
Then it went quickly, just 1 bedroom window, the pantry window, and the laundry room window and we were done. We finished just before noon and he got the screens downstairs and I got them put away neatly.
I was so exhausted! As he was signing out, I saw someone walk by the window in the office and discovered my son’s friend had come to finish moving the firewood.
My son eventually joined him and they got the rest of the wood in the shed. All that’s left is to pick all the kindling and store it somewhere so it can dry out. The pile of sawdust will go over the bank along with what gets raked up. My son is supposed to finish that on Tuesday.
There’s this pile of too big wood to be split too.
Once I’d rested a while, I managed to get the roundtop window back together so I’d have a table to eat at. I also got the plants back in the bathroom greenhouse window. I vacuumed the 2 screens going back in windows and made sure all grills were washed and in place. I was afraid they’d get broken if left out.
I got a call and my helper friend has still not tested negative so he can’t come back to work yet. But my general helper said she would be here and work on the Big garden. I still haven’t figured out where I am planting the garlic. I’ll have to do that on Tuesday morning before she arrives at 8AM.
Whether I go out to the garden with her or stay inside and put windows back together will be determined by how alive I am when I get up. It’s supposed to be relatively warm so we will see.
