I woke with a sore throat on Thursday morning so I took some zinc for it. It went away, but then I started to have an upset stomach. So I ate some breakfast and it went away. Then the diarrhea started.
So I called the carpenter and let him know so he could decide to come or not. He called his helper, who decided not to come because 2 of his kids had tested positive the day before. The carpenter came and was masked.
The helper would drop off tests for us on Friday when he came to plow, if we got enough snow. In the meantime, I would stay in the office and fluff the tree and do the treadmill if I felt up to it. (I didn’t.)
Throughout the day I felt fine once those symptoms had passed but took it easy. Then at 4:15 the vomiting abruptly started and would not stop. Then the stomach pain started. I called Tom and we decided he’d come out and tend the stoves I’d not managed to light and I’d call 911 and go to the ER.
The ambulance got here about 5:45 and I’d been lying on the floor for about an hour due to dizziness, soaked in sweat from the pain. They got me into a chair and out to the ambulance where the LED lights flashing immediately set off a round of vomiting. They finally shut them off. I was freezing cold by then with the wet clothes and sitting outside.
They said the ER was swamped so who knew how long I’d be there. They gave me some meds for the vomiting via an IV (that hurt like the dickens and continued to hurt throughout the visit) and that helped some. I was so cold, I eventually ended up with 8 heated blankets trying to get warm.
I was in there for about 5 hours, not bad considering they were swamped, but was in a main corridor the whole time. The covid test was negative, so at least that was good. I got a CT scan of my stomach, nothing found. So they are calling it gastritis.
Tom brought me home for 11PM. I looked up gastritis, and for someone my age, it’s apparently common. Not to mention the stress of the last 1½ years… It could also be an overgrowth of the bacteria that causes ulcers. No idea why it hit yesterday. I’d not eaten anything besides maybe the zinc that you aren’t supposed to.
So I guess this means a new round of doctor visits and tests… I did get nearly all the 2nd tier of that tree fluffed though…
I’d been seeing, off and on when I couldn’t take a photo, a black squirrel coming to the feeder area. I tried to get a photo Thursday morning but this was all I managed. It moves too fast for me!
Friday we have the snow storm coming in and I need to take it easy after the late night. So nothing planned besides fluffing a tree, maybe…
