Wednesday was another bad day, nuff said there. Thursday my general helper was here and the goal was to get the big Christmas tree down. We won! My dining room has been restored.
First we got all the ornaments off and then figured out how to pack them away. This was the first time for this tree and for doing it for 2 trees, so it took a while. We labeled everything as well as we could.
Next was the bubble lights and they were laid out in order and numbered so I could get them back into the correct boxes once they were checked for dead lights. There were 12 strings of those.
There were 18 strings of mini lights, each with its own numbered bag. I planned to sit on the couch and watch Call the Midwife and check them when I finished everything else.
Then we took the tree apart, tied up each tier of branches and bagged them in their labeled bags. I had my son and tenant take them to the attic along with the stand.
It was time for my helper to go, so I got started on the next part by myself.
I had to empty the china cabinet so it could be moved. My son pushed it into place in the dining room and I refilled it.
Then I had him bring the pineapple plant down from the old office. The fairy goes here too, but I decided to wait until I got all the lights done before I moved her.
It was about 1PM and I ran out of gas. So no lights were touched, I just rested and read.
Friday we are getting a messy sleet/snow storm and my helper will probably arrive late, if she can make it safely out of the hilltowns at all. If she does make it, we plan to get the office tree down and into the attic. If not, I hope to get all the lights from the big tree put away.
My helper friend is sick (but not with Covid) and won’t be here on Friday. But hopefully, with all the extra hours I have, he will be here on Tuesday next week and Friday.
