Awhile back my friend and I were discussing new movies and I couldn’t for the life of me remember an ad I’d seen that I thought I’d like to see. No clue whatsoever, gotta love brainfog. On Sunday when all I did was finally finish the bills (just got to put stuff away now for last year), I came across the ad again. So I contacted my friend and we decided to hit the matinee Monday morning.
So I got ready, after another bad night with leg pain, got the laundry started, and off we went. There’s construction along our route so we left plenty of time to get there. If we got there early, we were going to visit the sewing store. We had 20 minutes to kill so we went to the store. I found some cool card stock as I have 3 cards to make. She got a t shirt.
We were 5 minutes late getting to the movie, but we should have been 25 minutes late. That way we would have missed all the horrible previews. The movie finally started and though neither of us are football fans nor know much about the game, we did enjoy watching these funny women.
My favorite part was when they got into the box where the guys “control” the game for lack of correct terminology, and Lily Tomlin speaks to Tom Brady via his helmet. We both enjoyed the whole movie, I think.
I was watching the credits because my friend thought she heard Dolly Parton singing at the end and saw a note that this was based on a true story. I planned to check that out when I got home.
I actually remembered my camera and took this of the first stop on our drive. We’d discussed finding a place to walk, but that’s a problem if I can’t make it all the way. Or going for a drive. The afternoon was again to be briefly spring-like before returning to more winter like weather. She likes to drive north along the Connecticut River so we opted for that. She wanted to stop at a sugaring place so we did. They only sugar on weekends though.
We each got a snack to go with the kale chips and water she had made. Then we continued north.
This is the Millstone Farm Market and it’s a cool little store that offers fresh meats, an eclectic array of foods, and some made in store foods. I found chicken sausage with Swiss cheese and Portobello mushrooms for supper.
We continued on north and decided to look to see if the waterfall was running. In November after the drought it hadn’t been. We explored the roads off the one to the waterfall, seeking to make it west to the next town, but the bridge was out and we couldn’t find the alternative road. So we headed back the way we came.
Because we ended up back south again, we decided to go see when Mt. Sugarloaf opened for cars. The sign was gone and the gate closed so we left unenlightened.
We headed back to my house along the North American side of the river and I was home by 3:30. I had forgotten the contractor was coming and he was already there and at work.
I looked up the true story for the movie and of course, found it to be rather different from the movie. There were 5, not 4 women, and they never made it to the Super Bowl nor met Tom Brady. Four of them are still living and 2 are in their mid 90’s now. I thought it sad that the movie had been made from their story and no one had arranged for Tom Brady to at least meet them.
Tuesday is a busy day. My helper friend will be here midmorning and we will continue the spring cleaning, finishing the bedroom, and setting up Tom’s office again downstairs. I also have to get the cards made and sent out. And pick up the end of the year (2022) mess in the office. It’s to be cold, cloudy and either raining or snowing most of the day.
