On Saturday afternoon he went out and mowed the front pasture. It wasn’t terribly high, but high enough to short out the poultry netting. Because he had to cut it when it was high, 2 weeks ago, there was a lot of dried grass laying down. He had to go around twice to get it cut up enough so it won’t interfere with the netting or moving the coop.
In the evening he brought up all the materials for building the circus tent and the pasture pen.
On Sunday morning around 5AM I was out there putting the circus tent together. It takes just under 3 hours to do. I have to put the 5 lengths of 10’ PVC pipe together, then stretch 13 – 15 ropes along the whole length and tie them off every 3½’ . There are 4 to do, one for each side of the pen.
I had the first one done by 6:10 and the rest by just after 7:30. I’d been able to work in the shade for the first 3, but the last one was done in the sun. Even that early, it got hot quickly. Between the getting up and down over dozen times, and bending over, and the heat, it did me in.
So we decided we’d get up early on Monday and finish putting the pen up, about 2½ more hours. There was still 1 move left in the current set-up, so they’d have clean grass for the day.
