Wednesday morning dawned cold and raw and cloudy. The stoves had been going all night but it was barely 70F inside. I finally lit the masonry heater about 9AM because it was losing the battle. Then I made breakfast and finally tried to get started on the bills.
I didn’t last long before I was making 2 new calendars for my desk. The bank called and said they’d fixed the software issue. Nope. So I went and sat down and called my sister.
The birds had been back on the feeders. For a while I saw very few, after the Cooper’s hawk’s visit. But I think it’s gone now.
I’d tried for one of the big woodpeckers but by the time I got the camera and ready it was gone. Maybe someday…
But I did manage the male cardinal.
And the 2 fat squirrels who (knock wood) still have no interest in the feeders.
The lamp in the bathroom has sat in this window since 1992. The shade is badly faded and the gold trim that holds it together has started to tear. It’s my sister’s lamp and the one I turned on 24 hours a day when my husband came home. I call it his light now and it’s never turned off.
So part of the procrastination was trying to find and decided to buy a new shade with Christmas money. I found this one on e-bay along with one with 3 birds in the same style. But one of the birds is a cardinal, and this is a south facing window, so it would fade really quickly. So I decided on this one.
In the living room a standing lamp has another of her shades on it. It has real plants decorating it and they have started to deteriorate and fall off.
I was quite taken with this shade made of mica that I found on Amazon. So I ordered it too. If it’s not right for the room, I can return it.
This took me up to early afternoon and I finally went back and worked on the bills. The bank had fixed the software, so I got the checkbook done and bills paid. Now it’s just the bookkeeping/budget stuff.
Part of the procrastination was to figure out what I wanted for supper. I decided on clam casserole but forgot to get photos. I set it all up midday. So at 5PM I got that started and read or talked to my sister until bedtime.
On Thursday my general helper arrives at 9AM. I’m not sure what we are doing but there’s plenty on the list.
