Well, it happened. When I went out to do chores, there was frost on the windshield. It was supposed to be in the 40’s on Sunday night. So I went out and picked all the peppers. I will be freezing them for my brother’s use.
There were a lot of not quite ripe tomatoes that I offered on BuyNothing. The taker came out for them in late afternoon.
In the kitchen, the old island was full of canning jars from when I emptied the herbs out. I heard glass crashing together as I was writing my post on Monday morning. A furball thought he could fit on the 4” of island not covered with glass. Fortunately, he didn’t knock any off.
They had been sitting there for a while because I had to make storage boxes for them. So I collected the boxes and dividers and got busy.
My jars are stored clean in sealed boxes in the old root cellar. But the half gallon jars did not come in boxes, only small trays and shrink wrap. I had collected a large amount of dividers for bottles when my uncle died years ago. My cousins had gotten boxes from a liquor store for packing and each had a divider.
This kept me busy until lunch time. I was also doing laundry throughout the day. I had to light a fire in the evening as it’s to be in the 30’sF at night and barely hit 60F during the day and be cloudy.
Tuesday is the anniversary of when my husband went into the hospital and I didn’t see him again for 5 weeks due to covid. So I’m not in top form these days.
Tuesday my general helper won’t be here but my helper friend will at 9:30AM. We start the Small garden cleanout. I’ll have to keep the fire going all day as I will be cold when I come in from the garden.
