On Friday I was starting to put things back where they belong when I managed to break one of my old glass lamps. So I spent a good while fixing that, I hope, with gorilla glue.
My helper friend arrived and he helped me move more stuff around. I organized the discarded movies and got them into boxes. At some point I need to remove them from my inventory.
There were a good amount of things that needed to go to the attic once we’d finished, so we got that done.
Another thing he helped me with was raising the light over the poor ginger. It had grown into the light and above it. I also had to figure out new plants for the shelf as it was so high tall plants wouldn’t get light.
I tried to set the light so the ginger wouldn’t stretch to reach it. Looks odd, slanted like that, but the ginger’s had a rough time, between being abandoned in the cellar for months, my poor watering habits, and the light being too low for months. Now at least I can raise the light as needed. Now if I can just find the time and energy to water and feed properly…
My friend had offered to take me to a Christmas ornament sale she knew about. She showed up just as my helper friend was leaving and off we went. I only found one ornament, the shovel with the lady bug.
She said there was a retro store down a floor in this small mall, so we went down to see what they had. I saw a lot of the things I have at home there. BUT they were also having a 50% off ornament sale and I got all the rest there. The red ball is Italian glass. I have been thinking about putting the Charlie Brown tree up in the office next year and will need more of the tiny bulbs so I got 2 packages.
My friend was weeding out her ornaments as she packed away her tree this week. She knew I might do 2 trees next year and she brought me these from her collection.
When I went down to get photos of the root cellar, I saw the squash boxes had been moved to the floor so the carpenter could work on the ceiling. Not the best place for them, but I guess they will stay there until there’s a shelf to put them on.
It was to get bitter cold, colder than the last time, on Friday night, so I got both stoves going early. It’s to be very cold on Saturday and windy, but sunny part of the day, which will help heat the house.
On Saturday I have a cleaning helper coming and I will be taking down the Christmas tree as she dusts and carries boxes I load up.
