Sunny winter wonderland!
On Monday morning I was up at 6AM and got my post up. I never got the shades up until 7:45AM and this is what I saw, above. The sun was out! The snow was still stuck to the trees and it was so lovely!
We had gotten 2” more during the night, so that meant I had to go out and sweep again.
I started feeling not so good about then and called for a doctor’s appointment. Then I called my #1 intern for a ride, as the Senior center is closed for the holiday.
I got a shower and the stoves going and headed out and was back late morning. She dropped me off to go get my #3 intern and his friend. They planned to get the Gator out of the barn and zoom around the back pasture towing a sled.
I had some medication and was feeling a little bit better and really wanted to either get maps drawn or a seed order done.
I collected all my materials for making graph paper maps and got started drawing the Big garden. But I was stymied by 3 rows of garlic. I checked my posts but could only find mention of #1 intern and I planting 2 rows…
So I messaged her and she said yup, we’d only done 2. So that meant I had to revise the Big garden on the computer. We’d also decided it wasn’t a good plan to have alliums under trees, so we’d rearranged both the Big garden and the Small garden so that didn’t happen. So I had to revise the Small garden too.
So here’s the revised Small:

And the Big:

There’s an empty space beside the zinnias half way up due to taking out a garlic row. I decided to put kohlrabi in there this year.
So I managed to get half of the Big garden paper plan drawn by the time my #1 intern came back.
We decided to finish the vegetable seed order that we had started over the weekend. We finished just as the boys came in, wet and cold from playing in the snow with the Gator. So they headed out and I got the stoves going, found one of my new books and laid down to read.
Newspaper cubbies are cool!
I woke up about 4PM and had to go feed the birds.
When I got back inside, the feeders were flocked with birds. The male cardinal was even there.
I got some supper and sat down to watch the 2nd disc of Season 2 of 800 Words. I got both stoves going around 7:30PM and was in bed by 8PM.
On Tuesday I hope to get more maps drawn and have to get ready for when my helper friend arrives at 9:30AM. He had errands, watering the house plants and chores. It’s turning really cold, might hit low 20’sF during the day and dropping to 0F during the night. So I’ll be tending the wood stove all day too.
