I finished the seed orders and sent them in online. My intern arrived late morning and helped me with the Fedco one. There were about 5 items on this order that I couldn’t order as they didn’t have stock yet. So I will have to remember to do it again.
I ordered from Fedco (mostly), High Mowing, Strictly Medicinal Seeds, Palm Beach Seeds, Pinetree Seeds, and Baker Creek. The last 4 were for items, mostly herbs, I couldn’t find anywhere else. Here’s what I ordered, but this is NOT the full list of plants I am starting by a long shot.
I am beginning to wonder if I will ever be finished with Christmas this year. My good friend is downsizing and brought me bags and boxes of Christmas stuff she no longer could keep. Only 1 bag went back out for Goodwill. If I decide to do a second tree this year, I’ve got a good start on decorations for it.
She also had a small collection of miniature tea sets that had been given to her. She remembered that I had admired this particular one and she gave it to me. I must find a safe place in one of my glass front cabinets for it.
In the old root cellar I had a nice ceramic light pull with a sunflower on it. I found it shattered on the floor the other day. So I went hunting for a replacement.
I found this old one on Etsy but it didn’t have a chain, just 1 ball of the old one sticking out of the top.
It wasn’t very expensive, so I took a chance and ordered it. I won! I could get the chain on and I cleaned it up.
They’d said we’d have 2 bands of snow blow through on Saturday. The first one came through in the morning and the birds were frantically eating seeds. My helper had filled these on Friday morning.
The next thing I knew the squirrel on the ground in the previous photo was on top of the post. I’ve not yet seen them on the feeders, but once saw them on the rope.
Mid afternoon the wind picked up more and the short lived blizzard blew in. I didn’t get a shot of not being able to see the barn, but the tractor and barn were fast disappearing here.
The chimes in the New Herb garden were ringing and blowing in the wind. I expect there will be repairs needed to them after this.
The snow would have been deeper, but much of it was blown elsewhere.

The masonry heater works really well in these milder temperatures. I only light it once a day and it stays in the mid 70’s with no sun. I did have to load the wood stove a few times though on Saturday.
On Sunday I start the seed starting charts. There will be 6 of them, on the 1st and 15th of March, April, and May. Tom’s supposed to come mess around with the truck, see if he can stem the leak in the carburetor. I also need to find storage containers for the Christmas stuff. I’ll have to raid the attic for egg cartons. They work well for the little balls.
