I was looking through January photos for spring thaws and found this one from my birthday in 2016. The snow drops had buds in the old South garden before construction. I’d put down bird netting to keep the cats out over the winter.
But I’ve not found daffodils up at this time in January ever before.
I wasn’t moving too fast on Tuesday morning. I did decide to do laundry so I got that started. I fed the birds and did a couple outside chores by the time my helper friend arrived at 9:30AM. He headed out to get more bird seed and do some errands.
I got the kitchen cleaned up and took down the holly swags, but put the ribbons back up as the doors looked bare.
He ran the vacuum on the first floor and my general helper arrived to take me cloths shopping as he left.
We first went to a place my #1 intern recommended but it was hard to see the clothes as they were packed so tightly on the racks. I found a T shirt, the bright green one and my general helper found a light sweatshirt for running in.
We headed to another store we’d hit last year and I found all the other things. I’d been looking for pajama pants, sweatpants, and long sleeve shirts, in colors other than oatmeal or gray, which is the current selection in my drawers.
I sent them all through the washer and dryer in the afternoon.
Back at the house, my general helper gave the fairy half a bath in the time she had left. She looks much better.
She plans to come back on Wednesday and finish the bath. I spent the rest of the day on the phone with various appointments, heading to bed at 8:15PM.
On Wednesday I have a new helper starting. I hope to get a lot done in the clean room spring cleaning during the 4 hours he is here. It’s Larry’s birthday and I got him 2 of the small duck dinners for his breakfast and he has rabbit for supper.
So far, I’ve not caught him drinking out of the fountain but I did have to put a quart of water in on Tuesday. Could just be evaporation…
I hope to read in the afternoon as our lovely days have changed to cloudy and rain in the afternoon. Winter returns Thursday night when it drops to 16F. Sigh…
