Squirrel nests over the swamp to the north
On Sunday morning I was up at 4AM and got my post up. Then I started with determination to finally finish the bills/budget. Once I’d finished that and went put it away, I found the MassHealth application I had started 3 weeks ago underneath. Sigh…
So I sat for 3 more hours and got that finished and ready to mail out. By then it was noon, the wind was really blowing and I just didn’t have the energy left to face it in the cold to put down mulch in the Big garden. So I read for a while and ended up sleeping 2 hours.
The sun was on the Lady’s mantle in Row 6 of the New Herb garden and the colors were pretty. But I didn’t really capture the sun shining on it.
Once up, I got the stove going, shades pulled and supper made. I was in bed by 8PM.
Sun on woodshed
Monday morning I was up at 5:30AM and didn’t have a post to put up. But I did have to prep for an appointment in the afternoon. So I spent most of the morning compiling the information needed for that.
I got ready and the Senior van picked me up for an event at the Senior center.
It sounded like a cool thing to do. I was there early as usual so I worked on the ever present jigsaw puzzle of the day.
The artist had brought samples of scarves she had made using different techniques.
From the left: a technique using kosher salt and a technique using Elmer’s glue in place of beewax for a sort of batik effect.
The 2 on the right had the same technique, water only, but one was drier than the other.
Then she showed us the water technique and handed out the scarves. She emphasized that you really can’t control the outcome, the color will follow the water where it wants to.
She also warned us that what we saw when we finished would not at all be what we found when they had dried by the next day.
This is mine, in the front. I’m not a fan of purple, so I set up my bands of color so red and blue didn’t meet. You made purple with red and blue mixed, green with blue and yellow mixed, and orange with red and yellow mixed. To get brown, they all mixed.
On the ends you can see where the blue migrated all the way through the yellow to the red bands. So there probably will be some purple, or maybe brown.
The scarves were left there overnight, to be picked up the next day. I will have my helper friend pick up mine on Tuesday.
From there I went to my appointment but not until we made a trip back to my house to get the directions. Sigh…
The appointment went well. As usual the interviewer was impressed by my preparedness, which is done because I have no memory and can’t answer questions about the past well. I will probably be accepted into the program.
Back home I had stoves to light, shades to pull, supper to make and a Christmas story I had borrowed from the Senior center to read. I was in bed by 8PM.
On Tuesday I have my helper friend. He had a bunch of errands to run and I’m hoping to make ’s cranberry sauce. Once it has warmed up, I’m hoping to go out to the Big garden and get some mulching done. That should finish me off.
