This is what the north side thermometer read on Wednesday morning at 5:00AM. I got my post up and the fires really going; the masonry heater was reading 185F and it was barely 70F in the living room. The forecast was for sun which would help warm the house.
At 7AM I called the dental surgeon’s office and spent ½ hour on hold. But because (I think) I was a prior patient (from 2017!) I secured an appointment for February 26. They said they were booking in July! I got the kitchen cleaned up and at 8AM I called to get the temporary fix done on the tooth. I couldn’t get in until late afternoon on Thursday. This would cut my helper friend’s time pretty short, but it couldn’t be helped.
Next I spent time on the phone trying to find a ride for Thursday and everyone had plans for the afternoon. So I got ready and went to exercise class, after pulling out my sheepskin mittens, hoping the Senior van would be available. It was, so that’s finished. And so was I!
Between the cold, the class, and the stress of it all, I had absolutely no ambition or energy to do anything besides keeping both the stoves going.
So I took a page from this one’s book and had a nap early afternoon myself.
Eating has been interesting and not particularly nutritious. I’ll be glad if I can eat normally again Thursday night. The cold is forecast to continue until Monday. We are going through some wood!
Thursday I hope to finish the tree before my helper arrives at noon. We have house plants to water, wood to bring in, Tetris to play getting the boxes back in the store room, and I have to wash the Christmas linens and get them put away. Then off to the dentist’s.
