Back at the house from doing the chicks, my husband finished wiring the 3 new T5 heat lamps. This one was to replace the remaining T12 on the 4’ stand upstairs. I started prepping for the seed starting. My helper friend was going to be here and he’d help me hang up the lights.
5th starting seedlings under new T5 light
I was trying to figure out what seedlings should share a tray, and where those trays would have optimal conditions for germination. I also had to research the best conditions to start a new-to-me plant: Canary Creeper. I plan to plant it along the “English walled garden” wall by the New Herb garden.
My helper arrived and the first thing he did was start Slow Cooker Sticky Asian Ribs with Sticky Sauce in the crockpot, but that’s another post. We then moved them to the hearth as I needed all counterspace for the seed starting.

This starting included:
Vegetables:
Melons (3)
Mesclun – 3rd starting (6)
Peppers, sweet (3)
Tomatoes:
• Crimson Sprinter for salads (3)
• Chico III and Plum Perfect sauce (6)
• Matt’s Wild Cherry (3)
Herbs:
Yellow Toothache plant (6)
Borage (9)
Flowers:
Marigolds (18)
Canary Creeper (6)
Allysum (12)
Lobelia (6)
Totals: 78 seedlings in 5 trays
He filled the peat pots with starting medium while I sorted seeds and made markers.

My helper friend had to go so I finished the seeding myself and cleaned up the mess. I was exhausted and so glad supper was already cooking.
Saturday through Tuesday is to be gorgeous: 60’s to 70’s, and 40’s to 50’s at night. It won’t last but I hope to make the most of it while it does. I will be putting more edging around flowerbeds on Saturday as it will be far too wet to be working soil, after all the rain we got the last 2 days.
My son will be here and he will help me, then mow the yard for effectively the 1st time. Sunday I hope to finish the fenceline for the Big garden and on Monday put the fence back up. Then I can start on the weeds.
