On Saturday I got ready early and then got caught up looking at an extensive estate sale online. So I was not quite ready when Tom arrived at 7:30. But we left shortly after and arrived at the tag sale just at 8AM.
They were still setting up and we helped some. I got some canning jars, some lids, and a couple of sprouting caps in the box. There was a ½ gallon jar and a 1½ pint freezer jar that Ball no longer makes. Also a couple Christmas things, the folding chair, and new hose and hardware cloth. They were a bit expensive and I would have come home with twice as much if the prices had been more reasonable.
They were one of the sort that thinks retail prices are related to tag sale prices. I did say this is not a store, these are used, and it’s a tag sale. They kept saying well it’s too low, I’ll just keep it. They are moving and one would think the whole point of all that work was to get rid of stuff, not carry it in and out of the house…
So when I got home, I put the jars in the dishwasher and put the stuff away. Then I headed out to clean out the trash shed.
But I got side tracked by the dangling clotheslines. I may do laundry on Monday and thought it might be good to get the lines back up now. (Anything works for procrastinating about doing the shed…) So now I have tight lines for hanging laundry.
Finally I got started on the shed. About halfway through, my intern arrived for a visit and she sat and cut boxes to lay flat while we visited. It took 1½ hours to get the job done. She rode with me to the dump and on the way back, we came upon one of the wood guys pulling out of his house with a load of wood and I flagged him down.
I asked if there was any way they could come look at the wood mess and see if they could clean it up. He said he’d talk to the head guy and he’d get back to me.
By the time I got home, I was very tired. Not sure why as I didn’t think I’d done that much, but maybe residual pneumonia effects…. So I just lay on the couch and watched videos and rested.
About 4PM I saw someone come to the door and it was the wood guy. He looked at the mess, gave me a quote and will be here at 8AM on Sunday morning. They plan to knock it out in a few hours. What’s left as unworkable or unusable will go over the bank into the swamp.
I wrote to the organizer of the postponed woodbee and let her know the news. She was able to organize people for the afternoon of Mother’s Day, May 8th. So hopefully the job will be finished by then.
That will be a relief, one more big project done. Now if I can just get the excavator out here….
Sunday I have to mow the yard and hopefully get ready to start walking fences to repair them on Monday. All next week is fence repair and tree cutting on all the pastures before the hay gets any higher.
