The moon setting during sunrise
On Thursday I spent the morning doing tile. My surrogate grandchild was supposed to come for the Luminarium on Sunday but she’d started a cold. She was much better later in the week so they came for a visit.
I found her several pop-up books which she loves for Christmas.
This Dr. Suess one had condensed versions of 4 or 5 books in it. I always liked Green Eggs and Ham.
Once she was done with reading she was a cat. Off came the clothes and she was prowling around being a cat. At one point she found the huge box to the Christmas tree and climbed in, as cats do.
Later she came out to the living room and discovered my old corded phone. She had never seen one and had a great time calling her mom to talk or leave messages. She particularly liked the redial button.
I had to go up to the barn to do the cats when it started to get dark, so she got dressed and went too.
When we got back she wanted to draw so I got her colored pencils and paper. She made a wonderful drawing of our old cat.
After she finished drawing, she was climbing on me as a cat, she said. I said it was more like I was a jungle gym for an elephant.
But soon it was time for them to go and I got her socks on her. She got her dad to read her all the books when she got home and declared them, “the best ever,” and her mom said they’d been read several times already by the time she went to bed.
She’s off school so hopefully she can come back next week again.
On Friday, I have to wash the tile wall so it can dry for sealing, wrap the presents, and make sure I have noodles for the lasagna for Christmas day. My helper friend will be here and I may have to send him in search of noodles. I also have to start cleaning up the mess so I can cook on Christmas day. So another busy day…
