Between moving the pasture pen, the high heat, and mowing my husband didn’t get anything done on the house today. He mowed the area at the front of the front pasture where the pen had been, then went over to mow the 10 acre piece.
His mower was bought about 10 years ago for $50 and was old and tired then. It’s been malfunctioning the last few times he’s used it. This time it really couldn’t do the job at the 10 acre piece, so he gave up and came home. That piece won’t be mowed this year, unless the second stimulus comes through. If so, he will buy a new bush hog mower.
My sister had mentioned my lack of mention of wildlife a little while ago. We see the deer every day, and there are several small rabbits in the yard currently. Hundreds of chipmunks and the occasional sighting of various birds, but no photos of anything.
As I was taking the shot of the mowing up front, this large rabbit was having a great time checking out the cleared area. So I tried for some pictures of it.
I was surprised to find I got more than I bargained for! There’s a woodchuck at the top, and a sparrow near the rabbit. If you look at the top photo, you can see the brown spot on the left. That’s the rabbit, the chuck is long gone.
So there’s wildlife for my sister!
