Tom battled Mercury retrograde for the best part of a week, with things breaking down right and left, and won the battle of the dead computer. So I have a lot of catching up to do.
Last post was Chaos Friday as the computer died Saturday afternoon. The only thing I got done on Saturday was cleaning out the trash shed and going to the dump. On Sunday I went to a concert in Old Deerfield with my friend in the afternoon, after spending 4.5 hours mowing in the morning.
This is Saturday evening’s rainbow over the farm.
Monday, a beautiful day, was spent inside dealing with the MassHealth debacle. My surrogate granddaughter came to visit in the afternoon. She drew lots of new pictures for my fridge. They had fireflies and other cool stuff.
I got to visit with her mom a lot which was nice. My granddaughter with be starting in a new charter school this fall and is looking forward to it.

Tuesday was more dealings about MassHealth. I was put in contact with an Insurance Navigator and she was able to tell me that the application in 2021 was filed February1, 2021, 2½ years ago, and was still open. She said if it was still there when she logged on Wednesday morning, my insurance would still be in effect.
Tuesday afternoon I was taken shopping because the special card I got from CCA insurance had $280.00 on it and I’d lose it if I lost the insurance. So I bought all kinds of food and personal care things. It was a shop til I drop afternoon.
Second stalk of flowers on the amaryllis
Tuesday morning at 7AM the solar company called and changed my appointment to that afternoon between 1 - 4PM. The guy arrived while I as shopping and was just leaving when we got home.
He said one inverter had died and both were obsolete. In fact, he’d never heard of them. They should have been replaced in 2018 and never were.
Storm clouds Tuesday evening
The days during the week were lovely, in the 70’s and partly sunny. We did have a little rain on Wednesday but mostly it was lovely.
Wednesday I didn’t get much at all done. I had to take Larry to the shelter again because of the eating issue. This time they took blood for testing and gave him a long acting pain med. They are wondering if it’s pain in his head/mouth preventing him from eating.
On the way home, he spent a good deal of the time grooming himself. I had noticed he didn’t groom much, nor had my brother seen him grooming. On all the other trips down to the shelter and back, he didn’t spend any time grooming, just pressed against the door getting patted. When we got home, I didn’t see him again until 5PM, when he showed up hungry. He ate his breakfast, so I gave him another can. He’d eaten that by 7PM, so I gave him another. Then a 4th when I went to bed.
I’ve been really whacked by these anniversaries. But I did find out that my insurance was in effect and will be until the appeal is finished.
On Thursday I tried to pull my act together and clean up the house and get some projects done. My helper friend was here and we got all the house plants fed and stuff put away and a few odds and ends.
Thursday morning Larry had cleaned his dish, the first time ever. He ate 3½ cans that day.
My brother and I made Chicken Corn Chowder as it was a cool evening and to get colder, down into the upper 40’s.
I heard from my wood guy. He hopes to have his machine out here next week and to have the jig made for the huge tote bags we plan to load wood into to store for next year.
My son got the woodshed rearranged and cleaned out, ready for the wood to go in.
My friend was here and she wants to hit tag sales this weekend. It’s the Labor Day weekend and a big tag sale weekend. So I must see what I can find for sales in the area.
Amaryllis - new sprout of a new plant
Tom brought the computer late Thursday evening and so far, so good. He’s off on a vacation until Tuesday so I hope we are past issues.
On Friday my helper friend will be here and I hope to get into the New Herb garden and get it finished.
