I seem to be constantly acquiring animals. Every now and then I look around and ask myself “Where on earth did all these animals come from?”. I think my husband feels this way on a daily basis.
This week I’ve been downsizing my chicken and rabbit population. So far I’ve sold several rabbits and have a few people lined up for chickens this weekend.
Today we said goodbye to Pepper. She’s a young Holland Lop doe, black with strands of white. She reminded me of salt and pepper, so we named her Pepper. She failed to produce a litter the last time she was bred, so I chose not to keep her.
The lady that bought her has five pet rabbits. She remodeled an 8x8 play house into what appeared to be a two story bunny palace, complete with an outdoor run. She will be played with by grandchildren and may even become a little spoiled.
One more Holland Lop and about a dozen chickens to go, then my Spring downsize will be complete. For awhile I will enjoy having less chores, but then a pair of geese, a bottle baby, or maybe some ducklings will catch my eye and soon there will be an over abundance of furry cuteness once again.
