Good morning everyone!
I cannot begin to tell you how often I get asked this question; “How can you care for all of those animals you have and still work a full time job that demands 60 plus hours a week?”
To be honest, sometimes when I think of it, I can’t believe it either. However, through research and commitment, you soon find out it can be done.
I am a blue collar, factory worker who works in the automotive field, like most of my fellow “Detroiters”. I wake up at 5AM, every day. I start work at 6AM, every day. My commute takes me 20 minutes to get to my shop where I don’t get home until 6 or 7 at night (sometimes later). That leaves me with about 40 minutes in the morning to take care of things around the urban homestead, which is plenty of time.
Like everyone else, I wake up, brush my teeth, make my coffee, etc. Then I head out to the “barn” (our garage). Taking care of the rabbits, quail and chickens takes less than 10 minutes of my time every morning, seriously, that’s it!
The video attached to this post shows you the morning routine. It is simple, quick and efficient. The benefits of raising these animals far outweigh the “inconvenience” of waking up earlier to do so. Eggs, meat, and fertilizer for the garden; yep, they all come from my own backyard; and I LOVE IT!
Take a look at the video, if you have the time. If you like what you see, please follow me here on Steemit and on YouTube! This way you don’t miss out on any of the content I put out.
