I have long thought it would be awesome to interview my homesteader and farmer friends. We have some friends who are up to cool stuff!!
We got a chance to go up and visit our good friends and their new baby.
While the country is beautiful, one downside is that we often live quite far from our friends. Everything is spaced out! It makes the time together that much more precious.
We enjoyed a wonderful homegrown dinner and the next day Bre took us on a little video tour. They recently put a new roof and a full solar system that runs their entire farm on their gorgeous old barn that is made entirely from oak!
Bre & Colin have a fantastic vision for the barn including a dance hall, event center and venue space. It’s a really cool spot with a ton of potential and that much cooler that it all runs on solar!
In the meantime, they have a large acreage full of hair sheep, cows, goats and chicken.
Last night Ini and I drove the truck up to the top of their hill and woke up to an incredible view.
It’s always a joy to get together with friends who are doing cool things and enacting their dreams, while also raising a family! Colin also grew tobacco this year and is curing it in the barn.
Another wonderful aspect about having friends with similar interests is that while we overlap, we are focused on different things.
While we mainly work with fruit and nut trees, perennials and edible landscapes, they excel in hardy livestock and they make killer sourdough! We always eat well when we’re with these two (now 4)!
Check out the video for the full tour, but I was also sure to take some photos. Enjoy!
