....send them to my yard!!
Part of the field of destruction. Most of this is from Fluffball, living up to her nickname!
Ah, spring is around the corner and with it comes the shedding of winter coats. I'll admit that I slack off on brushing the dogs during winter because I don't want all of that ^^^ bombing my house with flying fur, but give me a good dry temperate day and I'll play catch up!
I like turning dog brushing into a general hang out and play time. That's why I brush them by the play set, so I can also keep an eye on the chickens in the garden, and the kids and whichever dogs I'm not currently brushing can mill around and play.
Once Big Guy here sees I'm holding the brush, he glues himself to me. He looooooves the attention that comes with brushing!
I used to use a regular brush on Big Guy, but it wasn't effective enough, and neither really was the loop-shaped deshedding tool that used to work magic on our previous dog, Maggie. My friend who is a veterinarian recommended the Furminator and it's been perfect for Big Guy. This day, I found out it works like a charm on Fluffball, too. Definitely an example of needing to try different things until you find the one that works!
Furminator power!
Big Guy and Fluffball were transformed through furminating, but it didn't work so well on Little Barky's short coat. Either I'll have to get the short-haired dog version for him, or get another loop shaped deshedder.
What I like best about brushing the dogs is that it's a wonderful way to spoil them with attention while accomplishing something that benefits both of us. It's good for the health of their skin and fur, and it's good for me to have less vacuuming to do :)
When it comes to mundane things like dog brushing, you can either have the attitude that it's an annoying chore, or you can find a way to make it enjoyable!
I'm glad we spent this afternoon in the sunshine, because it's been followed by rainy cold days!
Chicken parade!
My turn?
A rare non-selfie pic of me, brushing Big Guy on a different day.
Enjoy the mundane!! :)
