The chives may be my first real sign of spring, but the spring flowers are still my favorite part! These daffodils are one that came with the property, and I've been spreading them around the yard for about 15 years now.
The all yellow daffodils were first brought from a family member's lawn. The daffodils do very well here, and we have already been able to split and transplant some of these around as well.
The hyacinths are my personal favorite of the spring flowers. The aroma is a little piece of paradise, and the complexity of the colors can put me in a trance. I have some others besides these purple ones, but they haven't fully bloomed yet, and I need to hold back a little something for later.
This is the group that all my other two-tone daffodils started from.
I've had a hard time getting these dainty little anemones started, mostly because we have a weedy wild begonia that looks very similar (it's the other green in this pic), so I keep accidentally weeding the anemones.
Lastly for today, we picked up this black pussy willow a couple years ago. Early every spring it breaks out in black, then flowers out in these bright green/yellow blooms, then slowly changes to the red.
Hope you enjoy!
