Today was hard work, but very gratifying. As you can see we have cleared near enough the whole area of the allotment!
My Partners (Sam) friend Mike came to save the day with a petrol strimmer, it still took hours, just a lot less hours then by hand. We all worked so hard clearing as much as we could.
Underneath all along the nettles we found 3 DIY composter made out metal sheeting and a radiator. So we cut down all the nettles and placed all our grass into the ready for sorting for composting. This was a win as I was wondering what to do with all the cut grass.
In and amongst all the nettles we found old black liner and carpet. So we placed these down over the now very short grassy overgrown border, to get a head start at killing back some grass.
We had another surprises today first up was a great reward after all our work, we found some potatoes!!! Rather shocked they grew under the conditions they did.
The second was this patch of really pretty flowers.
Then as we packed up it started to rain so we certainly left at the same time.
