After what seems like an eternal wait we've finally made it to the top of the waiting list, and have been given an allotment.
There was a bit of a problem as the one we were originally given was already occupied, however after a quick call to the council it was sorted, and we were thankfully given the allotment we actually wanted. With 3 empty allotments I do wonder why I was on a waiting list for nearly 2 years.
Allotment 24 is bigger and also against the wall, which has its benefits for growing climbing veg.
The Allotment itself is very overgrown and hasn't been maintained for well over a year. So it's a bit of a jungle out there.
I think that is our shed the overgrown one however I won't know until we uncover whats underneath, and check with the next allotment owner.
I spent an hour today with a sheer and formed the path down towards the shed. I really enjoyed this I felt as if I was discovering a hidden civilisation underneath layers of earth. There is something fulfilling about clearing the space, it may be harder but i'd much rather this than a pre planned plot.
Starting The Road Of Discovery
On the first sheer I found a few hidden goodies, first up was a massive rhubarb plant with a gooseberry plant growing in all around the rhubarb and the shed.
At this point I decided to not battle though it all but to continue working around the bush towards the shed.
Tomorrow we are heading back to get started properly, as it was only me today.
In the meantime any tips would be welcome on removing a lot of Rye Grass.
