It was really time to turn the woodchip mess pile into a raised bed.
I basically needed more garden space last year and dumped a big pile of compost and woodchips on a random piece of grass.
I did not know if this was a good place in the garden to grow things so it was a bit of a trail. Turns out it is a great spot!
After some time grass and weeds will start to grow in from the sides and will become a nightmare. If you are really lucky like me some chickens will escape and make the mess even worse.
So.. time to make this mess into a proper raised bed.
We use mostly salvaged materials, wood and iron rods. Occasionally used a screw on the corners if needed.
I'll just cover it with a tarp for now. I'm not looking forward to digging all the grass out before filling it (no fan of cardboard methods). I might just plant a real tight covercrop in there, not sure yet. Or put the chickens in there for a while. Got plenty of options and still time to think about it. Curious to hear what you would do.
