This DUCK Has LUCK!

She came to us about a week or two ago as a gift from a friend. She is a very friendly duck and we like her very much! She was a solitary duck that needed a flock so we joined her with ours and hoped she would bond. Our drake quickly told her he was in charge and we thought that was all that was needed to settle her into the group. When we walked away she was cooing with the other Muscovy and I was glad they had each other...

That didn't last long at all! She quickly escaped the paddock while we weren't looking and went on a walkabout! I was so scared she would perish to the snapping turtles in our pond when she flew into the water and swam off. I crossed my fingers and wished her the best!

Every day I shake the food and call her and every day she eludes me! I have not seen her since. BUT, luckily Ryan has! He sees her at every dawn on a log over the pond and at every dusk, she perches there again! While I'm relieved she is surviving on the pond just fine, I miss her! I want her to come and visit and let me hold her!

So, yesterday my friend Aubern and her two cute girls came over to hang out with baby goats in the barn during a torrential downpour. I had just finished milking when Aubern said your new Muscovy is right outside! I jumped into action and quickly caught her and brought her into the barn out of the rain. I soothed her with some layer pellets and love!

After we finished loving on her I put her back in the duck pen and hoped she would settle in... She didn't! By that night she was on the pond again! Oh well, I guess she is just a free spirit intended to live a bit on the wild side!
