Very much back to business after we've had a couple of quiet days ...
2:00 Doncaster 7. Mutakatif 11-10
Has been a beaten favourite on both of his starts (finishing 2nd both times).
Neither race really looking that special either, though it is noted that on both occassions the horse in 3rd place won next time out, so ... ?
3:05 Doncaster 9. Musaahim 9-4 fav
Yeah, Musaahim looks like the one to be with, but I won't spend much time looking over this one as the form is far too thin on the ground to be trustworthy.
2:20 Sandown
Clearly the market here is pointing us towards Roussel (15-8) and Havana Grey (11-4).
My gut feeling is more for Havana Grey as he is a course and distance winner. He also clocked a 5 length win at Ayr.
Both Ayr and Sandown have quite telling uphill finishes. Havana Grey carries a penalty for the c&d win though.
Then there's 3rd favourite (Rebel Assault 4-1) who is faster than both of them on good ground and gets a filly's allowance - but, like Roussel, she's shown her best form when allowed most of her run downhill.
There's enough uncertainty here. I want to go with Havana Grey, but I can't really justify it.
2:50 Sandown 7. Master Of Wine 6 pts @ 11-10 BetFred, Tote
and 10. Rivas Rob Roy 2 pts @ 11-1 everywhere
The favourite is very much the place to start here with his c&d debut having him just beaten by a head.
The price is a little short though, and when we look at Rivas Rob Roy (11-1) we see a potential danger as his only completed run was uphill at Brighton.
3:25 Sandwon 7. Jake's Hill 1 pt @ 50-1 SkyBet, BetVic, Betfair, Stan James, Paddy Power
Ah, another 50-1 shot. Well, his maiden win clocked a decent time over c&d.
The ratings will tell you he has a lot to find to compete here - hence the price, but I'll take some 50-1 based on his two rund this season (both over 1m 2f).
Top dangers? Well, there's a few as one would expect for such a class race. Ayrad (3-1) and Fanciful Angel (13-2) look the most likely to me.
5:25 Bellewstown 2. Hyperlapse 4-6
Shocked at a 50-1 selection? Here, have this to bring you back to normal (if you dare back at such short odds).
6:40 Beverley 12. Our Little Pony 7-1
This price looks too big for a consistent type with a c&d win under her belt. Half a stone more today though, so maybe we'll leave it alone.
6:50 Haydock 1. Raydiance 6 pts @ 6-4 most places
With no obvious danger in the race, I can only assume this price is due to his two runs so far being over 6 furlongs on soft ground.
Today's 7 on good (showers forecast though) ought to not be a problem and even his penalty for his course win is offset by the claim from the very capable Clifford Lee.
8:30 Chelmsford 5. Shankara 3 pts @ 6-1 BetVic, Bet365
I think this is some smart placement here. 1 mile on the allweather looks ideal and Jamie Spencer is a great jockey booking.
The form of her debut behind Flood Warning looks very impressive.
Those at the top of the market are respected - but beatable.
A lovely treble :
Mutakatif / Master Of Wine / Raydiance : 2pts @ 10-1
