"Find you someone who looks at you the way Guardado looks at Cristiano Ronaldo" 😂
Taxes are a pain, aren't they? Well, for us poor folks, taxes are evil; but for rich people such as artists, athletes and celebrities taxes are the devil himself. And the reason is that the more money you have, the more money the government wants.
You just have to look at Messi's case with the Spanish government for a few years. He didn't report €4.1M in taxes from 2007-2009. The outcome? Well he had to pay 14 times the amount owed (approximately €57.4M) and was sentenced to 2 years in prison -which, of course, he won't have to serve.
Now, why would Cristiano Ronaldo leave? Plain and simple: He doesn't want to pay the penalty he will be given for not paying his taxes. We need to keep in mind that, in contrast with Messi, he embezzled €14.8M. Hence, if the same rule or penalty that was applied to Messi would be applied to Ronaldo, we would need to pay the extravagant amount of approximately €207.2M. That is more than double the amount Real Madrid paid back in 2009.
This reminds me of Diego Maradona. Even though he is known for being one of the greatest football players, and considered an idol for playing for Napoli in Naples, Italy. However, did you know the interesting fact that he is not allowed to step on italian soil? The reason? Well, you guessed it. He did not pay his taxes, fled the country and now is wanted in Italy. Is Ronaldo planning on doing something similar? Or is this just a strategy to convince the Real Madrid executives to pay for his taxes by threatening to leave? Only time will tell.
