Disclaimer!
This may come to a shock to many of my followers that watch my videos and read my posts and think that Old Guy sure is one manly man! Well, let me tell ya, back in my younger days, I used to do a fair bit of wrenching. I used to do a fair bit of a lot of things, but we wont talk about that lol. So as we age some of the stuff isn't as much fun as it once was. In them olden days, I didn't mind much getting my hands a bit dirty now and again, but now its not something I look forward to...but hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. So this is a long ways of saying, I am no master plumber. If you don't know, or are not sure what to do, call a professional and don't rely on my silly post lol. This is just put up for entertainment purposes! Now that is another way of saying, don't even think of suing my ass if you get hurt!
The Problem
This is the value that was constantly dripping on the floor. It started off slowly, but as a few days went by, it was getting worse!
Of course the first thing you need to think about is safety. I turned off the power to the water heater and all of the outlets nearby.
I then thought I best turn off the water valves lest I get a face full of scalding hot water to the face!
Next I removed the copper pipe that lets the water drip at floor level. Was pretty easy...
I drained a bunch of water out of the heater. This is a shot of the new valve. Not bad for $15!!!
The old valve had a fair bit of corrosion on it. I put in the new valve and to my surprise, NO LEAKS!!! The whole job went smoother than I would have guessed. I would rather spend $15 than what a plumber would have charged!!!
Thanks for stopping by!
