Evacuation of drowning victims at sea Day Seven
It has been seven days since a small child was reported missing after swimming in a large river. Today, a joint team from the Indonesian Red Cross, Basarnas, and troops are returning to the never-ending current, with diminishing hope but determination that remains.
Officers from various agencies work together tirelessly. A SAR volunteer wearing his trademark orange clothing carefully lifts a body bag that is believed to contain the body of a victim who has been searched for for a whole week. On the pier, PMI (Indonesian Red Cross) officers and residents greet with gloomy faces. an atmosphere of calm and prayer in their hearts. The tired faces of the opponents illustrate how difficult this search effort is. However, they know that every life that can be lifted for their families is a reason to continue fighting.
They are not only saving bodies, but also providing closure for grief. Although the bodies found are no longer lifeless, for the victim's family, this is the end of a torturous wait. A closure that allows them to accept, and slowly, begin to heal.
