Hey, the situation in Haiti is on fire! Insecurity and violence are through the roof, and things are not looking good at all. It turns out that some violent gangs have taken over the country after a massive escape of criminals from a prison. Imagine, 80% of Port-au-Prince is under their control!
And to top it off, the prime minister is missing after signing an agreement in Kenya. The country is in a state of emergency and curfew. Violence has forced a lot of people to leave their homes, 15,000 people no less!
Although humanitarian organizations are lending a hand with food, medical care, and emergency shelter, half of the population needs assistance. The international community is pushing for urgent and sustained action to address this crisis in the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
Luckily, Kenya has signed an agreement to lead a multinational security support mission in Haiti. So, even though things are bad, at least there is a ray of hope in the midst of so much darkness.
