It's partly because they remind me of my childhood and partly because with sugar being my drug of choice, they are nearly just a happy flavored sugar cube. 😄 Funny.... not funny.... I know.
During my lifetime, the candy hearts were put out by a company called Stark, which since has been owned by a company named Necco (Necco Wafers.. familiar?), but was sold to a company named Spangler in 2018. I think Spangler always meant to keep them in production, but it has taken them several years to finally get them out in mass.... or at least around here.
They disappeared for a couple of years and then a couple of years back, their individual boxes started showing up on Valentine's counters again, but only a very limited supply. I think I told on a year's past Valentine's blog that I bought the entire display one time when I found them. LOL... Obviously I am not above that. Hope nobody else wanted any.
This year though, for the first time, they are back on the shelves in the big bags. Halleluyer ! That's right, it's just about spiritual to me. 😂 🤣 😆 ....and you guessed it, all of the bags that were left on the shelf are in my candy drawer right now. You won't miss them if you didn't know they were there to begin with. LOLOLOL !! I left the individual boxes for you this time.
YUM ! YUM!
They haven't quite perfected the printing yet, but I forgive them. 😇 I know they will keep working on it. I did wonder how any company could buy an item/brand and not acquire all the equipment and "know how" that goes with the item they purchased, so it wouldn't take YEARS to get it back on the market properly. I'm sure there is some story behind that.
So there it is, my favorite Valentine's crack ! ha ha
Do you have a favorite?.... or use to have a favorite before you stopped eating candy poison?
Like always, you know I love you..... just as long as you keep your hands out of my Valentine's stash.
