The humpback whale
Definition :
Size: humpback whales measure about 15 meters
Weight: they weigh about 4 tons
Where they live: they live in all the oceans because they travel a lot
Why is the humpback whale endangered?
- Humpback whales are in danger because they are hunted. Before, have hunted them to make perfume, makeup ...
now they are hunted under the pretext that they eat too many fish or so-called for scientific research
- They are also in danger because the seas are polluted: waste in the sea (plastic bag, bottles or improbable objects ...), oil spills and many other things.
- Whales are also caught accidentally in the nets.
- There are also accidents with boats: tourist boats, fishing boats or even private boats.
All of this causes big problems in the ecosystem where whales live. The ocean needs whales: when they die (naturally), their bodies can feed a lot of fish.
When they are hunted, this causes imbalance and other animal or plant species also have their lives in danger.
It's like a big wall from which bricks would be removed one by one. This wall weakens little by little and collapses suddenly.
What can be done to help them?
- Do not buy products made from whales, nor eat products made from whales.
- Do not pollute the seas
- Do not take a boat trip too close to whales
How many whales remain?
Today there are only 28,000 left, but there is still time to save them!
