With the first AVP event in Huntington Beach just over a month away I believe it is a good time to discuss the best places to go for fans who are visiting HB for the first time. Here is the link to the cities website:

Parking
Let's start with parking. Depending on where the courts are set up. In the past the tournament was located by the pier. If this is the case this year, parking in the neighborhoods off Pacific coast Highway is the best bet. There are meters located on Coast Highway but parking in the neighborhoods allows you to avoid having to pay the meter on a regular basis. If you do decide to park in a residential street be sure the check the signs for road maintenance and street sweepings. Nothing will make your experience worse than enjoying some great volleyball then seeing a parking ticket on your windshield at the end of the day. I cannot stress this enough, read the signs!!! My personal favorite place to park is located off PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) and 6th street right after main Street. There are plenty of spots the farther you go away from 6th.
Places to Eat
The biggest draw for visitors is Ruby's right on the Pier. But for those of you who are interested in other places to eat around Huntington Beach here are some suggestions. The most convenient place to get a bit to eat is off Main Street and PCH. The newest section of this stretch is called Pacific City. It is close to the beach but the prices are a little too steep and the parking rates are quite high as well. For the local a good place to go is Subway off Main and PCH. If you want to go more sit down Duke's or Sandy's right off the pier is the way go. I will put a link for those restaurants below. There is a snack bar located at the beach called Zacks that is reasonable priced and the also have beach rentals too. If you would like a complete list of restaurants here is a link to tripadvisor: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants-g32513-Huntington_Beach_California.html
I hope this helps direct people where to go and how to get around this great city. My next post will be focusing on the players that will be playing in this event. Stay tuned...
