Hmmmm.... This is very interesting phenomenon especially taking into consideration is the ice cream season for sure :)
Why I am talking about brain freeze? It is summer, hot weather, people like to cool themselves so they use frozen products like: ice cream, sorbet, everything you name it...However it is very interesting phenomena when you are eating too quick or too much you can experience very strange sensation while eating, very unpleasant sensation of coldness in your mouth which make you feel like your brain is freezing... When I started researching I found more interesting stuff, brain freeze is also known as ice cream headache, you can get even more scientific and sophisticated name for this phenomenon as sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia. Which is explain by most of the sources as It is a short-term headache most of the time caused by rapid consumption of ice-cream, ice pops, or very cold drinks.
So how this is happening?
A very rapid sensation of cold causes to constrict and dilate the blood vessels in the roof of your mouth, following by sending pain signals to the brain via trigeminal nerve which will be responsible for this very interesting sensation called as brain freeze.
My son He was first person to experience this and he was talking to me about it, I was rather surprise when He was describing this to me. However when I started observing his ice cream eating pattern I was not surprised that He experienced brain freeze while eating ice cream. He was biting big chunks of ice cream and holding them in mouth, so they could melt, or He was taking huge spoons of ice cream into his mouth... He was really surprise that I never experienced this condition, so I did experiment one day, and ate ice cream in the way my son ate them...Yes, I didn't need to wait long. Actually when I tool my first huge scoop of frozen ice cream into my mouth and kept for few seconds I could feel really very strange sensation, which is so difficult to describe in different way like brain freeze indeed, kind of headache due to the cold stimulus. I didn't like it. So I said to my son, no more speedy eating of ice cream; he is eating ice cream in much slower motion, he doesn't eat ice cream with the speed of light any more!!!!
My experimental ice-cream oreo ice-cream :) My son's are m&m's ice-cream and We both got brain freeze as a result of experiment :)
Why I am mentioning this?
People do the same in real life, they do eat or they do things too quick, so they are missing the real experience which should be associated to the event. They do not take time, so they rush to eat, they do not create right atmosphere to eat, so they are not able to enjoy the moment. It is summer make the most of it... Celebrate the moment. Learn to love every single minute of it. It is your life.
