Before you could even get into the cave itself you had to remove some of the snow from the entrance. It was kind of shocking you could even tell it was a cave from the distance you were at. If there was only a bit more snow you might have never realized what this was.
It took around an hour to remove enough snow to make a path you could get through. This still required you to crawl up a snowbank to get inside. At the very least this barrier stopped any wind from getting into the entrance of the cave itself.
Some large ice crystals were hanging from the ceiling and floors. At the very least you were no longer stepping in snow that would take you down to your ankles. This made walking so much easier and quicker as well.
The only real issue was the darkness. Your wristwatch did have a light on it. However, since you no longer had a ship the light did not seem to automatically move around trying to point out possible walking paths to take.
Parts of the cave were also massive. You could have fit an entire village down here and still had enough room for that village to grow for many generations. Every time you turned a bend you were half expecting to find some kind of proof of life.
There did come to a point where some rocks had fallen and the passageway forward was quite going to be tight. To make it easier on yourself you took off your spacesuit. Even in the cave, you had not realized just how cold this planet must be you started to shiver as you tossed the suit forward.
You then sucked in your gut and pushed yourself through the tight passageway. Only to quickly put back on your spacesuit again and warm back up. Hopefully, you would not be needing to do that too often. At the very least the cave was warmer than the outside and there were no massive gusts of wind either.
After quite some time walking you decided it was time for a break and a food cube. At some point, you would need to think about sleeping. Since the cave looked more or less the same everywhere you did not suppose there would be a time you would find a spot and feel like that was the area to sleep in.
It however was not time yet to rest. You wanted to push forward. Exploring a cave was quite cool after all. You would sometimes even hear the dripping of water which made you think some parts had to be warm enough to still have flowing water.
As you got deeper and deeper underground you could only guess there might be a lake above you or perhaps a river. As sometimes rather freezing water would land right in your face. You however did not want to put on your helm unless you needed. It made you feel a bit claustrophobic anyways.
You then came across a fork in your path forward. You could take the left fork or the right fork.
