You tried heading northwest for a few steps. You then had to turn facing west. This is when you realize after talking a couple more steps that the next direction you had to go to the south was a dead end. Shockingly, you did not realize this rather short path of the maze was not a dead end sooner.

You ended up walking back to the three-way intersection. You then realize you could almost tell from here that going that way would have resulted in a dead end. You should think more clearly next time in deciding if you are going to head north or southwest.
